Geocache Description:

The coordinates posted above are bogus, man.

I think our area needs a new puzzle cache. What you think?

There have been quite a few 101 caches popping up recently. However, I think that series is biased. It does not represent a certain segment of curricula.

What was your favorite subject in school? When asked that question, some folks would pick Math. Others would pick English. People who smell like your Uncle Zeke, who only listens to Jefferson Airplane and still drives that VW bus he bought back in the 60s, tend to prefer Art. All of those are very fine subjects indeed.

However, some percentage of kids, today and yesteryear, when confronted with the same question, will reply a little differently. Recess. Others prefer P.E. And then there is Lunch.

Man, I like school lunches.

Every kid wading through the amber waves of grain and climbing the purple mountains from sea to shining sea has a God-given and government-ensured right to a daily helping of "that macaroni and meat stuff".

Did you know that Federal law defines and governs school lunches? Implementation is passed down to the states and districts, but the U.S. provides the structure and the requirements. There are pages and pages of legal "whereupon"s and "heretofore"s that lay out the school lunch gameplan.

All that legislation is primarily contained in the Richard B. Russell National School Lunch Act (U.S.C. 42) and the Child Nutrition Act of 1966. Yep, that little dish of boiled-until-mushy peas and carrots has the strength of 100 Senators and uh, well, whatever number of Representatives holding it up. The mandate for those little dinky cartons of milk is enforcable by the National Guard if necessary.

I'll always love school lunches. You can have your Lunchable and your Monkees lunchbox and your brown paper sack. I want my lunch scooped out on a plastic, compartmentalized tray by an ample lady in a hair net.

So here is your puzzle.

So good luck.

When you enter your on-line logs, I think it would be fun for everyone to document their most interesting memory/thought about the school cafeteria and school cafeteria food.
