I bet many cachers don't know about the first cache in Western New
York, well ok, maybe Urkel does. Anyway, It was placed July 28,
2000, even before geocaching.com came into existance.
Over thirty-five people found the cache, and it even had a few
DNFs. Back in that day (a whooping eleven years ago), the
containers were usually buckets, very big caches compared to the
usual nowadays. This one was no exception.
After almost two years of existence, "Hunters Creek" was
archived. This can be attributed to posted signs and property
issues.
Two local cachers, my homeboys TheWhiteUrkel and Szuchie, both
have searched for the original cache, both unsuccessfully. It is
still believed to be in the park, because the owner never indicated
that the remains were moved. A new cache "On The Skyridge Trail"
was placed .10 from the original spot several weeks ago, so feel
free to try to locate the old cache if you feel so inclined while
you're in the area.
Anyway, about this cache. This cache is located somewhere in the
park, about 40 feet from a trail. Please brush up on your
geocaching history to figure out the correct coordinates.
