A Green Acres park with parking and trails located in Almonesson NJ. Open 8:00 AM to dusk. Look for the Woodbrook Park sign on the trail.
This cache is located in an area that is rich in history. Lakeview Heights Park, later changed to Sunset Beach was opened in 1874. Everything from an amusement park with a carousel to major orchestras broadcasting to 27 stations throughout the country occurred here. The area that the cache is hidden had a large swimming pool as well as the local meeting spot, “The Falls”. The falls are located on a path off the parking lot close to the road. The lake across the street was well known for boat rides and even had a trolley from Woodbury. The cache is well camoed but plainly visible located downstream from the falls. Bring a pen for the log. No serious bushwhacking required, just follow the main trail past 3 post (used to be a bench) a little further and you will see a trail in on the left down to the stream. No need to get muddy. Explore the area, there are many foundations and remnants of the past. If you want to know more about this park pick up the book “Images of America, Deptford Township” ISBN 0-7385-1164-1. It has great pictures including an airport where Home Depot now sits! Watch your step, there is avoidable poison ivy, and it may be a little muddy in spots. Have fun and be safe!
