Whoa Nellie! Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Wizard of Ooze: Hello,
I’m a volunteer reviewer for geocaching.com. In a routine check of area caches, I see that your cache has been missing for an extended period of time. The geocaching guidelines include a section on disabled caches: http://support.groundspeak.com/index.php?pg=kb.page&id=235

Cache owners can temporarily disable a listing, which will take a cache page offline for a short time. Do this if the cache needs repairs, or if the area is closed for a period of time (construction, hunting, winter closures, etc.) This is meant to be temporary, which means a few days, weeks or months.

A listing which is disabled for an extended period may be archived by a reviewer, unless there is some explanation on the listing. If you decide not to replace a missing cache, please archive the listing.

I’ve archived your listing to make way for new, active caches to be placed. If you would like to resubmit a new cache at the location, please feel free to do so and it will be reviewed according to the current geocaching guidelines.

Thank you for your contribution to geocaching,

Geocache Description:

Whoa Nellie! Would you like a little more peace in your life? Well, you've come to the right place! Welcome to Nellie Place Peace Park! (Say that ten times fast)

* This cache is also 100% wheelchair accessible!

Ever since my Sooke River Micro cache was "lost" on May 8th, 2006 in a freak incident involving a truck that crashed into the Sooke River bridge, I have been wanting to replace it with something a little more "peacefull".

According to the dedication plaque nearby, this "micro" park was dedicated Dec. 17, 1992, as a place of peace in the city of Colwood on the occasion of Canada's 125th Anniversary. The grove of twelve trees represent our provinces and territories and sybolizes the hope for future peace.

When I was in school I had a paper route in this area and used this park almost every day as a shortcut. I had almost forgotten about it until I noticed it again on the way home from work one day and thought, "That would be a good spot for a cache!". Unfortunately, there really isn't anywhere to hide a larger cache here.

Just sit down on the side of the picnic table closest to Sooke Road and be discrete so not to arouse any undue attention from the local residents.

Please do not log this cache at night.
Remember, peace is the theme here so let's keep it that way.

The cache contains only a folding log page and pencil.
No trades, but there is a coupon to a nearby "frozen confectionary establishment" for the first finder who wants it.

Peace!
