A tribute to Walt Disney
This is a great museum if you are interested in Walt Disney.
Walt moved to Marceline at the age of four and this was very influential in his design of Disneyland. When he was designing Main Street USA he and his designers used the main street of Marceline as a model. Walt once said "To tell the truth, more things of importance happened to me in Marceline than ever happened since--or are likely to in the future."
The first stop of this cache will take you to the Walt Disney Hometown Museum. I would highly recommend that you stop in and see the memoriabilia. We intended to spend about 10 minutes here and ended up staying almost two hours. The museum is home to Walt's first drafting desk, the school desk he carved his initials into (twice) original animation cells, letters and other items of interest.
Museum hours are April through October
Tuesday-Saturday 10am-4pm
Sunday 1pm-4pm
At this stop you will need to find some information. You do not need to go in to find the answers that you seek.
A=number of windows on the second story of the front of the building.
B=Thirteen minus the number of chains holding up the front awning.
C=Number of light fixtures hanging from the awning.
D=Dollar amount of school groups admission
E=Number of hours the museum is open on Mondays
F=Number of letters in Joanna's last name. (She is Walt's granddaughter and her name is in the third row center of the memorial wall.)
To get to the final you need to add ABC to the latitude of the coordinates given for the museum. Then subtract DEF from the longitude given for the museum.
The final is on private property but it is open to the public. There is parking due south of the final that is very well marked. Also make sure you check the sign to the east of the parking lot in front of the house for more fun facts.
Please only do this cache during daylight hours as I have told the owner we would not be out after dark.
