Tussen de duinen en het
landbouwgebied bij Bakkum is men begin jaren negentig begonnen het
gebied te herstellen tot de historische situatie. Het maakt deel
uit van een natuurontwikkelingsgebied van ongeveer 24 hectare. Met
de reconstructie van het oude Zeerijdtsdijkje in juli 2000 is de ontwikkeling
van het gebied voltooid. Tevens is ook de overgang van het
duingebied naar het grasland hersteld. Nu kan weer voedselarm
duinwater het gebied binnenstromen, naar de oude beek die langs het
dijkje loopt. Ook zijn stroken langs de sloten afgeplagd, zodat er
een interessante vegetatie kan gaan ontstaan.
Er
zijn drie kwelpoelen aangelegd ten behoeve van de pad, de kikker en
de salamander.
De
grote lisdodde, die met die sigaren dus, heeft samen met de duinrus
en het duizendguldenkruid zijn intrede gedaan.
Ook
veel insecten die in de duinen leven hebben het gebied
ontdekt.
Dit
deel van het gebied is nu nog niet toegankelijk voor wandelaars,
maar is goed te overzien vanaf de verschillende bestaande
weggetjes.

In the nineties there a start was made with
restoring the historical situation between the dunes and the
agricultural area near Bakkum. It is a part of a nature development
project of about 24 hectares.
The development of the area is completed with
the reconstruction of the old Zeerijdtsdijkje in july 2000. Also is
the transition from the dune area to the pastures restored. Now the
food poor dunewater can enter the area again into the old brook
alongside the dike.
Also measures are taken to give interesting
vegetation a chance.
Three seepage pools are made to convene
toads, frogs and salamanders.
Also various plants have made
ther

way into the area as have different insects that lived in the
dunes.
This part of the area is not yet available
for hikers but you have a good view from the diverse small roads in
the area.
