North Deer Lake Hand Bee Traditional Cache

Coyotehybrids second hide. We spend a lot of time at Deer Lake and thought it would be fun to stash something in the area. The drive takes you along Deer Lake to the end of North Deer Lake road (atleast the portion open to the public for motorized transportation). From the Gates (one leads to Kaniksu Ranch, the other is the one you will be hiking behind) it is an easy .4 mile walk. We sauntered as far as the pack wanted to go and left our stuff.
This land is owned by the Boise corporation and is open to public, nonmotorized use. There is some Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife land adjacent and it is a copperative agreement to gate the road and allow public access. The area we ventured in was relatively uninspiring, but there were a good deal of wild flowers (lots of weeds too) and wildlife. We spotted turkeys on the day of the hide and have seen many deer in the area and coyote scat. There is a tremendous amount of Mullein growing in the area, so if you forget TP, your in luck!
We left a number of items including:
A copy of Thoreau's Walden - read, enjoy, share
Some international currency (Thai, Aus, Italy)
Misc. toys
Fishing lure
Smokey Bear patch
