Geocache Description:

Thames Path - Henley Bridge

Henley Bridge is a five arched stone bridge, built in 1786.  It replaced an earlier wooden bridge, the foundations of which can be seen in the basement of the Henley Royal Regatta headquarters.

From the second half of the 19th century, this stretch of the Thames has been a popular and fashionable resort for visitors from London and the home counties.  Pleasure steamers moored here and Jerome K.Jeromes' 'Three men in a boat' stayed here or rowed past.

A hundred years ago during the summer months, the river here would be the mooring point for many houseboats of well-off Londoners.  Young families stayed in the country, whilst the breadwinner travelled to London daily or weekly on the train.  Has much changed?

Cache is located at:  N51 (F+1)(G-6).D(A-1)A   W0 A(B-4).E(G-C)(C-3)

You are looking for a camo snap-lock container, containing the log, pencil and a few swaps.

The cache is not far from Henley Bridge.  Close to the cache is a children's play area, small fairground, café, toilets and a car park.  The car park is not recommended (£2.60 - £8.00 for 4 hrs!).   There is however free parking at N51 31.748  W0 53.446, which is around 1 mile to the south [might be handy as it happens...], or you can park in the town centre.

Good luck!
