for Talcre Dunes SSSI. To do some Dune Maintenance Work and
CITO.
Talacre Dunes SSSI home to
GCHR93 and a area of Natural Importance is slowly being
reclaimed into a natural state by the removal of invading trees,
shrubs and grasses. With the aim of incuraging the local wildlife
to flourish.
To aid in this we intend to spend approximately 4 hours working
in an area clearing it of invading shrubs, removing small roots and
branches. Also clearing areas of the Dunes of bindweed which takes
over from the native grass.
Now for the details
We will meet at the coordinates which are for the Car Park at
the bottom of Station rd, at 09:45 where we will receive a brief
safety briefing from Jane the Flintshire CC Ranger. Before heading
into the Dunes. As we are strolling to the work area, we we do some
CITO. Once at the work area we will divide into 2 groups, one will
commence the clearance of the Scrub area, the second will begin
removing the Bindweed from the Dunes. After approximately 2 hours
we will stop for a break, and both groups will then swap jobs.At
approximately 13:50 we will stop all activity's and collect all
rubbish together ready for collection.
We will then proceed to The Smugglers Inn, Station Rd, which is
located next to the car park where we will be assembling.For Drinks
and a bite to eat.
The cost of a meal for those wishing to eat will be £3.50, this
is for a meal including bread and butter and desert.

Both the Dunes Maintenance and the Social parts are open to all,
with no commitment on anyone to attend both.
There are 2 ways of logging events. By logging an "Attended" or
by logging a "Find". Both will give you the CITO icon. The accepted
practice for CITO Events, is for those who actually take part in
the Clean Up, to log an "Attended", whilst those who join everyone
for the social side of the event to log it as a "Find".
