Pickled Cache (Five Rivers MetroParks) Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

ghs: Well, the construction at the parking area has already been going on for a long time and it's showing all signs of going on for even longer. I wish I had something positive and definitive to say in response to the reviewer but I'm opting out of stringing him (her?) and everyone else along any further. This one's time has apparently come.

Geocache Description:

Small geocache near the Creekside Trail bike path, just north of Burkhardt Rd.

It's a plastic container, wrapped in camo tape. (I wrapped it myself!) I had my usual summer-time exercise in getting the coordinates as good as I could get them. They should at least get you to a place where "geosense" should be able to handle the rest of it. (I keep geosense stored in my GPSr, but I understand that other people apparently have access to it other ways.) If your GPSr's in a good mood, they might actually be of somewhat more help.

You probably don't need this, but here's where I parked when placing the cache:

N39° 45.552' x W84° 07.306'.

There's a stairway to the bike trail there. The cache is just under a 0.1 mile walk from there.

If you park at the bike path's parking area, as recommended, be careful crossing Burkhardt Rd. The presence of the bike path may not be all that obvious to muggles in cars. Muggles shouldn't be a huge problem, but bike riders and pedestrians can pop up pretty fast, and although the cache's presence may not be immediately obvious to them, it's anything but muggle-proof. Please be careful when accessing it and try to obscure it from view of the bike path as best as possible. (In other words, please cover it back up when you're finished.)

The cache was placed with permission of Five Rivers Metro Parks. Please obey all park rules.

Note: As of 21 January 2013, there are no trackable items in the cache. I strongly recommend keeping it that way for the sake of said trackable items.

In addition to that, it was 18 July 2021 when I got reminded that I had the wheelchair accessible attribute turned on. I did that because, as long as the ground isn't soggy, the cache itself should be wheelchair accessible if the wheelchair somehow got onto the bike path. But it didn't occur to me until "today" that getting the wheelchair onto the bike path from the suggested parking would likely be impossible without lots of help from probably more than one person not in a wheelchair. (However, for a longer ride, the bike path might be wheelchair accessible from other access points, such as the one to the north, on Airway Rd. And the bike path is wheelchair accessible from the suggested parking if you go back out of the parking lot and use the road to get to the bike path. Mind the traffic if you try that and the slight slopes make a motorized wheelchair advisable.)
