Geocache Description:

A fun cache near an interesting grouping of boulders.

This cache was born from our family tradition of an annual camping/family reunion trip to this area. Not to take anything away from other caches in the area, we think this one is unique because of the unusual rock formations at the cache site. We come to this spot often for picnics or just to let the kids play. Thanks to ktTris for the nice pictures we added to the site. We have had three cache containers taken so we decided to move this cache away from the attraction and the muggles. For the best experience we recommend you park at N 34 23.018 W 110 49.748 then walk across the meadow and over the hill to the cache container. There is a small trickle of a stream but it's easy to cross in dry weather. With a careful quiet approach animals can be seen at the pools of the stream. After completing the cache come back to the boulders you passed by after crossing the stream. Don't miss the tunnel under the boulders. Please observe the Forest Service signs asking you not to drive on the meadow. On a recent visit we saw someone has torn down the "Do not drive on meadow" signs but please use common sense and save this fun experience others to see. You can leave highway 260 on FR 99 to 170 then 172. Follow your GPSr from the parking spot at the meadow after that. It's all two wheel drive but a bit rough in spots making a high clearance vehicle a plus. There is also a road leading to FR 172 from FR 237 on the west making a nice loop trip possible. The western road is in better shape now and okay for high clearance 2 wheel drive. Please cover the container well to ensure the experience will be available for others. The cache was relocated a few hundred feet in 2010 and just needed replacement again in 2020.
