This caper is multi stage adventure in the Watchung Reservation. A map would be very helpful and can be obtained at the Trailside Nature and Science Center. The best location to access this cache is by parking on Tanager Way. See waypoint below. This will make the hike shorter as an out and back.
Access to these stages is by a small unmarked trail across the street from suggested parking. See waypoint below. Follow unmarked trail to the yellow/magenta trail. All stages can be accessed by trails, marked and unmarked. No bushwhacking required if you stay on the correct trails.
Stage 1: stand on the trail and face ESE and look for a tree about 30 feet away that looks a little different about 15' up. At the base of this tree lie the coordinates to stage 2.
Stage 2: stand on the trail and look to the Southeast side of the trail for the "KERRY" tree. In that cluster of trees, about 4 to 5 feet high, is attached the coordinates for the final.
The final is a small ammo box located along an unmarked trail, waypoint below, further SW along the yellow/magenta trail. Seek a traditional hide among the pricker bushes.
Note: If you start at the Trailside Museum, the hike is much longer. Access the green trail to the orange trail, then to the upper yellow/magenta trail. These are loop trails with the yellow being the longest. Other access points require more bushwhacking.
