Middle Fork Palisade Traditional Cache

Prepare yourself for a wonderful view from one of my favorite places on Mark Twain Lake. This cache is located on top of a steep bluff overlooking the confluences of the Middle Fork and South Fork branches of Mark Twain Lake. Approximately 100 feet south of the cache location is a limestone outcrop that affords you the best view.
This traditional cache placed by a Corps of Engineers Ranger is a plastic painted peanut butter jar with a log book and Corps of Engineers trinkets. (I have everyone at the office saving peanut butter jars now because of their size and the screw top lid).
To get to the cache, you must travel 1.7 miles west on State Route U from the intersection of State Highway 107. A gravel parking area is located on the south side of Route U. The cache is approximately .7 miles from the parking lot. You will travel across open fields of grass, along side an agricultural lease area, and through an oak/maple forest. A great hike, but a little challenging.
Believe me, the view is well worth the trip. Have Fun!
