There are FIVE caches in this series.
From
Sydney, take the Louisbourg Hwy ( 22 ) to the Louisbourg Main a
Dieu Highway, to the parking coors at N45 56.788, W59 52.904. From
here you can start your journey. This old road will take you to
Gooseberry Cove, where there are other MineRP caches
available.
The entire
course for the five caches in this set is approx. 9.5 kms. The
actual coastal hike is of about 6 kms, with the remainder gaining
access to the coast ( old roads ) and returning to your vehicle.
There is an intermediate road ( to Wild Cove )at N45 56.332 W59
54.167 to N45 56.198 W59 54.203 if you wish to break the hike into
two travels. The old road from St.Jude's- St.Peter's Cementery to
the head of Big Lorraine Harbour, runs from N45 56.000 W59 55.037
to N45 55.798 W59 55.240. The area consists of bog, boulders,
beach, barrens and some cliffs/bluffs along the coastline ( and
what a coastline it is ). You will hear the crashing waves,
boulders rumbling in the surf, lots of birds screaching at you,
truly heaven on earth on this Beautiful Cape Breton Island. This
maybe unsuitable for younger children, take fluids and a camera
along, and a phone or a friend because some areas are ankle
breakers.
I'm going
to give the entire travel a terraine difficulty of 3.5 stars.
Individuals portions of the hike would be less.
The cache contains five little cloth dinosaurs, A Geocoin
and Travel Bug, pen/pensil & log sheet at placement. Please
trade fairly and rewrap and rehide as found.
