For Those Who Dare Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

chaosmanor: Nearly a year after the Springs Fire, this area looks just as lunar as ever. It also has been permanently closed off to all recreational use. The closure is not just temporary; CalParks wants to close off the trail, as it never was an official one. As a result, we are going to turn this off and are strongly recommending that no one put a cache out here in the future, unless an actual recreational trail is cut through here.

Thanks to everyone who came out here in the past!

Geocache Description:

A recycled container from another cacher's cache that was muggled in Simi Valley, and almost wound up as a cache in the redwoods. It's a long story...

This is for those who dare to hike in hot weather, or through lots of tall grass, or across the sandy dunes, or even brave the urban wastelands. You won't really have to do any of those things for this cache, but it was pretty hot when we hid it, so pretend that you are struggling against the elements

Campyc's cache "Tru's Friends" (GCGQAJ) had been on our list for a long time, and we finally got it off The List today. On the way in, we saw a couple of good spots for a cache, and we hid this in one of them, on the way out. There isn't really a lot in it; just some of the usual geo-junk, plus a geocoin. The main purpose of the cache is to get people out into a local "wild" area. We hope that having two caches on this "off the beaten path" path will encourage more cachers to explore this out-of-the way little corner of Pt. Mugu SP, where the only sounds we heard were birds and insects, and one prop-driven airplane Enjoy!

BTW: the waypoint given is for a spot on the south side of the water tank that campyc mentions in her write-up for GCGQAJ. We give it here because the actual "trailhead" isn't really obvious from the paved road south of the Rancho Sierra Vista parking. If you get to this waypoint, you should see the actual trail to both caches.

BTW: Thanks, Big Eagle! We appreciate that If you're wondering what this is all about, check his log, dated July 27th, 2006.
