Der Ötscher ist eine der eindrucksvollsten Erhebungen der Ybbstaler Alpen. Mit seinen 1893m und dank seiner markanten Form ist er weithin sichtbar, bis ins Donautal und das südliche Waldviertel. Im Winter beliebtes Skigebiet, erfreut er im Sommer Wandervögel, Kletterer und neuerdings auch GeocacherInnen.
Der einfachste Weg zum Cache startet beim Ötscherlift, welcher den/die CacherIn bis zum Ötscher-Schutzhaus auf 1418m bringt. Für die Berg- und Talfahrt sind EUR 18,- (Sommer 2021) locker zu machen, für Inhaber der Niederösterreich-Card ist die einmalige Berg- und Talfahrt kostenlos.
Ab da geht's dann zu Fuß in ca. 1,5 Stunden bis zum Ötschergipfel. Wer möchte, kann die 570Hm zwischen Parkplatz beim Ötscherlift und Ötscher-Schutzhaus (bei der Bergstation) natürlich auch zu Fuß überwinden. Eine Wanderkarte ist für Menschen mit halbwegs ausgeprägtem Orientierungssinn nicht notwendig.
Das Versteck befindet sich nahe des Gipfels, ist jedoch recht gut vor den Blicken der oft zahlreichen Muggles geschützt. Bitte seid vorsichtig beim Suchen (Absturzgefahr)! Das Versteck ist auf gefahrlosem Wege und ohne Klettereien zu erreichen.
Der Cache ist ein Marmeladenglas und enthielt ein paar Luftballons, Murmeln und anderes nettes Kleinzeug. Bitte wieder gut verstecken!

The Ötscher is one of the most impressive mountains of the Ybbstal alps. It's 1893m high and visible to the naked eye very far, till danube valley and southern Waldviertel. In winter, it's a frequented skiing area, in summer you may visit the Ötscher to hike, climb or to search for a Geocache!
The easiest way to the cache starts at the cableway station. For a fee of EUR 18,- (summer 2021) the cableway takes you up to the Ötscher hut at 1418m and back down again, for owners of the Niederösterreich-Card a one-time trip with the cableway is for free.
From Ötscher hut, you can reach the summit within 1,5 hours. If you have a good sense of orientation, you do not need a hiking map.
The cache is hidden near the summit, but it is not visible to the lots of geomuggles which are on the summit, especially on weekends. Please watch your steps while searching for the cache! It is not necessary to step into dangerous areas to find the cache!
The cache is a jam jar and contains a logbook and a pen (please do not remove) and a lot of gimmicks. Please rehide it well!
