A 200ml cache within Hawksworth Wood, Kirkstall.
Hawksworth Wood is one of a number of woodland areas in the Kirkstall Valley. Originally providing shelter, fuel and building resources for Kirkstall Abbey situated to the east of the wood.
The wood, now virtually consumed by a housing estate, along with the other woods in Kirkstall Valley area were quarried for millstone grit. Hawksworth in particular has some interesting steep-sided quarry workings. The area has now reverted back to woodland.
Accessible from Butcher Hill, Hawksworth Road (best for parking), the busy Abbey Road (A65) or Cragside Walk.
My first cache (and as there's tree cover) I'd appreciate feedback on the accuracy of coords.
Cache is fairly small, but room for small swaps, coins and small travel bugs.
As of 25/7/06 contains :
Log Book,
Geocaching Key ring,
European Union Geocoin,
Geof the Ghost Travel Bug.
