Geocache Description:

A traditional cache honoring Godzilla on his 50th American birthday. He is the King Of Monsters. He has no competition. He stands alone.

You got to love the big guy. Originally featured in Ishiro Honda’s 1954 black-and-white classic Gojira, Godzilla: King of Monsters was introduced to America in 1956. The story: An American reporter (played by Raymond Burr) investigates a series of mysterious disasters off the coast of Japan. He comes face to face with an ancient creature resurrected by nuclear weapons testing, a 250 foot tall mutant dinosaur so powerful and terrifying it can reduce Tokyo to rubble. Godzilla, at its most simple, is the largest, most obvious metaphorical warning against untested and poorly conceived technological advances. The movie, created a decade after the Hiroshima bombing, warned against proliferating nuclear weapons. These days, Godzilla's rampages could just as easily apply to global warming or world pollution. Quite simply, treat the Earth nice, or it may stomp you.

Parking is available at the Sherrod Softball/Soccer complex in Palmer, Alaska. Begin your searches from there. There are various ATV trails throughout this area, but the trails may not lead you to your goal. In the summer, this wetland has a definate Jurasic feel, with the various seasonal plants growing as high as 8 feet tall. Godzilla's Toybox focuses on Asian and Japanese trade items, with an emphasis on Japanese anime and toys. Enjoy!
