Geocache Description:

Cedar Falls Cemetery is a very well kept country cemetery. The cache location is along the boundary line so please do not disturb the graves or gravestones. The ground is fairly level thoughout the cemetery. Some of the older headstones are unstable, please watch young children carefully so they don't topple a stone or get hurt.

Cedar Falls Cemetery is a wonderful country cemetery close to city limits. It is not unusual to see wild turkeys or deer around the graves. A friend is buried here and he liked to hunt, it seems to be a very fitting place for him to rest.

You can easily drive in, park and grab the cache. But I hope you take a little time to look at the headstones and think about our history.

The oldest graves I found were Ollie Roswell who died in 1822 and George Martin Harrington died 12/13/1858. John Sprague died April 18, 1876 at the age of 82. He would have been born in 1794. Eliza Ann Harrington died 3/22/65, so her grave is the oldest woman's. Other interesting headstones include: Jacob Visger 1800-1878, Mary Hoff 1804-1885, Doctor W A Bury 1806-1883, Mary Ann Kent 1806-1884, Joseph Kent 1807-1889 and many others.

David Roach's headstone indicates that he was a Sharp Shooter during the Civil War. There are quite a few other Civil War veterans buried here, including a few from the Calvery.

The cache is a small camo painted 2" round rubbermaid container. The coordinates will take you to a headstone near the boundary line and cache location. When you get to the coordinates, the cache is about 24' south. The trees along the boundary did not permit me to get excellent coordinates as the area is heavily wooded. If all else fails, look at the hint.
