Reserve for Thomas and Friends Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

Crisp image: I was here today and found the container out in the open. The log is wet and needs replacing so I have decided to archive this cache and allow another local cacher the opportunity to place a cache here. This one was one of my original caches. I hope that all who ventured here enjoyed the walk even if you didn't find the cache. It is one of my favourite places in town.
Happy caching

Geocache Description:

Take some time out and have a look around one of Traralgons hidden treasures. This area was once used as the local golf course untill it was moved to its current location on the western edge of town. The lake was used to feed water to the Traralgon train station for the steam trains. It is intresting to note the valve and pipe assembly on the dam wall. There were no pumps to deliver the water from the dam to the station. It was done by siphon. The valve allowed the siphon to be primed and then gravity did the rest. There is another valve in the bush below the dam wall. The reserve has been awarded an award/grant from International Power for conservation of this area. The proposal was submitted to the parent company in the UK and was selected from others alloveer the world. International Power owns 2 local powerstations. The grant will allow the continued restoration of the wetlands and old creek bed around the reserve.
If you have the time stop for a picnic and a wander around the well formed walking tracks.
