Dales Way - Who put that here? Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Mr Truffles: I called at the cache site with StevieP and Mike G and to my surprise the cache box was not wet at all and in fine fettle. However, I have decided to archive this cache so I have removed the box. Thanks to all who have visited.

Geocache Description:

The cache is located on a quiet section of the Dales Way in beautiful Langstrothdale close to Yockenthwaite Stone Circle - I often wonder 'Who put that here?'.

The Dales Way is a picturesque walk of about 81 miles starting in Ilkley and finishing at Bowness on Windemere. The Dales Way is predominantly a valley walk following sections of the rivers Wharfe, Dee, Lune, Mint, Sprint and Kent but there are a few short higher level sections as it crosses the head of valley's.

The infant River Wharfe, created where Greenfield and Oughtershaw becks meet further upstream, gradually follows a route down Langstrothdale to the Upper Wharfedale valley floor via a series of small cascades. Langstrothdale contains a number of popular picnic spots used by tourists and walkers in warmer weather.

The above co-ordinates are the location of the cache which is a small tupperware style box containing a log book, 2 pencils, sharpener, cache card and FTF card as well as the following goodies:
7 year itch TB, large paperclip, small furry mouse, smiley face magnet, Cyprus coin, wren lapel badge.

The cache box is suitable for geocoins, small TB's or small trade items.

The cache location can be visited by one of the following means:
a) as part of the Dales Way.
b) There are opportunities to park by the side of the road on the stretch between Yockenthwaite and Deepdale including at N54 12.486 W002 09.057. The cache can be approached upstream from Yockenthwaite or downstream from Deepdale taking a gentle 1-2 miles circular walk.

Do not be tempted to cross the river to gain direct access to the cache site as the rocks can be slippery and the waters dangerous.
