in our disclaimer.
A small cache at an old historic structure, now used by the
USGS.
Cache is a small rubbermaid container, contains only a log and a
pen. Will hold small items, like the small block of a 57 Chevy.
Caution - climbing the ladder can be dangerous. Please be
careful.
DO NOT WALK OUT ON THE WOOD- IT IS OLD AND ROTTED, YOU COULD FALL
THROUGH! PLEASE- DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CROSS THE CREEK IF IT IS
FLOODED! YOU CAN GO AROUND, OR JUST COME BACK LATER!!
The United States Geological Society uses this tower attached to
the structure to measure runoff flow.
Parking is available at: N 34 43.730 and W 111 46.622.
Cool spot to take a picture! Enjoy! (If you are not a local, and
you are thwarted by a flooded creek, you can drive a little further
south on HWY 179 and cross the creek, then hike back on the East
side of the creek to the cache. Even still, varying water levels
may make reaching the cache a little difficult, or scary for some
geocachers. If that is the case, take a picture of the USGS stand
and post it, and I will happily allow you to claim credit for
finding this cache! Sorry to all those before who haven't been able
to log this as a find! Thanks for at least making the attempt!)
