Geocache Description:

This multi requires a walk of about 1 km along the Darlington (Nuclear) Waterfront Trail. It also requires a little homework before you go, unless you do the Darlington Big Bro Cache first, in which case you will have already done the homework. If you bring along a good bird fieldguide NO homework is required though. Its all in the book.

I recommend you do the Darlington Big Bro Cache and then the Little Bro Cache on the same trip. This requires a walk of about 2.3km around a loop trail. The trail is wide, packed and well-kept and is frequently used for biking, jogging or hiking. Even strollers work here.

For parking ideas please check the Darington Big Bro Cache description.Three choices of excellent parking are given there.

I have given you the co-ordinates of the first micro. Once found, it will direct you to the second, and the second points you at the final cache. The co-ordinates in the micros are NOT in number form, but in a "Bird Code" instead. Interpreting the code requires advance preparation or a good bird book. The code is the same for the "Little Bro" and "Big Bro" caches. If you do one, you are ready for them both, because the "Bird Code" is the same for both. If you haven't done "Big Bro" cache yet, here is what you do to interpret the code.

I will give you the proper Latin Genus/species name of a bird which inhabits the area of the cache. You determine the common name of that bird. You drop any "first" or decriptive names, keeping only the last common name of that bird, then count the letters in that LAST name. Here are some examples.

A = Cathartes aura. You determine TURKEY VULTURE, drop the "Turkey" name, leaving you 7 letters, so A = 7

B = Turdus migratorius. You determine American Robin, drop "American", count 5 so B = 5

C = the total number of "g"'s and "u"'s in the last name of the bird Bonasa umbellus. You determine Ruffed Grouse, count one "g" and one "u" in grouse, so C = 2

These are examples only. In the actual code below some numbers are repeated MORE THAN ONCE, on purpose, to reduce the chance of guessing co-ordinates without doing the walk!

Here is the Bird Code for the co-ordinates found in Micro 1 and Micro 2.

A = the number of letter "t"'s there are in the last common name of the bird Troglodytes troglodytes = _____

B = the number of letter "r"'s there are in the last common name of the bird Melospiza melodia = _____
