Geocache Description:

A kid-friendly, adult required, and hopefully educational multicache in eastern Cedar county.

PattyAnn and I found a park recently that we thought would be good for our latest cache, a multicache called "The Galaxy". The cache is kid friendly in the respect that each planet micro cache and the final should be not too difficult to locate. It is adult required as mom and dad may have to assist with the calculations. Also making this cache kid-friendly is that all parts are located off of a well mowed path with no bushwacking required.

To begin this cache, please visit the website listed above labeled "User's Web Page" or at:
(visit link)

Collect as much information about each planet as you will need this information to perform the calculations for each stage of the cache. (Hint: You may want to print out the planet profiles)

Go to the coordinates listed above to begin your hunt. To locate Pluto from this point, obtain the 4-digit number from this location and perform the calculations listed below for the North and West coordinates. Each planet visited will contain a camo pill bottle containing the coordinates calculations for the next planet. You will visit all nine planets and then the final, so allow for time when planning this cache. The final is a camo two-quart plastic container.

Note: All coordinates will begin with
N41 44.XXX
W90 55.XXX

Use the calculated numbers for the XXX part of the coordinates. Calculated numbers with decimal points will round up or down to the nearest whole integer value unless stated otherwise.

Pluto:
North coordinates = (Mean density of Pluto - 4-digit number) + mean temperature of Pluto - percentage of helium on Uranus
West coordinates = Mean surface temperature of Mercury / (percentage of argon on Earth + reflectivity from Jupiter)
(Note: Be sure to take note of your surroundings at this location, i.e. number of items, etc.)

Finally, normal arithmetic order of operations rules apply for the calculations.

Rule 1: First perform any calculations inside parentheses.
Rule 2: Next perform all multiplications and divisions, working from left to right.
Rule 3: Lastly, perform all additions and subtractions, working from left to right.

(*) = Multiplication
(/) = Division
(+) = Addition
(-) = Subtraction
