Fredericksburg Area
Rappahannock CITO
August 26, 2006
Jody and I wanted to give a little back to
the area we've lived in for the past few years, and we especially
wanted to contribute to the local geocaching community. This
beautiful area is in desperate need of a clean-up. Make a
Difference with us!
Details:
The area we will be cleaning up is on the
southern shores of the Rappahannock River off River Road.
DO NOT GO DIRECTLY TO THE CITO SITE,
PARKING IS LIMITED!There is a small(ish) pulloff
at our starting point that can only accomodate a dozen or so
closely parked cars. Therefore, we will meet at the Wal-Mart
parking lot in Central Park at 8:30 am to distrubute bags and break
down what needs to be cleaned and where. The posted waypoint is at
the parking area. Then we'll all carpool to the CITO site (about a
mile away). If there is a bigger than expected sign-up for this
CITO, we'll have a second location along the Fredericksburg Canal
Path too!
The terrain is what you make it here...there are some CITO
opportunities for those that only want a 2-star terrain day, and
there are lots of 3- star terrain CITO spots. A special opportunity
exists for someone with climbing experience and gear to remove
graffiti off a 40-50 ft rock face if anyone is looking for a 5-star
terrain day too!
