Geocache Description:

A wonderful mystery cache that will enlighten your senses and enrich your mind.

Wandering the a little artistic section of downtown Sarasota I was amazed at the quaint little area that seemed to take me back to a place time forgot. Here it was quiet, it was quaint, and it was actually enjoyable to sit back and smile as I watched the business types zooming by trying to make it to some deadline while I was listening to the water drop gently from the fountain in front of me. This spot is home to the triangular shaped structure that Owen Burns built which is known as The Burn’s Building. This little area was dubbed Herald Square after the Sarasota Herald Tribune building was built nearby in 1925. Owen Burns contributed much to the development and future plan of Sarasota and this spot was dedicated in his honor in 2001 by the Sarasota City Commission. When you visit the listed coords you will find yourself in this wonderful triangular shaped square with shops, gardens and a wonderful fountain. There is a historical marker where you can learn all about Owen Burns and how in the early 1900’s he owned 75% of the land area of the city. Wonder what that would be worth today?

After you are done admiring this spot, face in the direction of coordinates N27 19.904 W82 32.319 and begin walking along the sidewalk. While you are strolling along be sure to admire the tile creatures inlaid in the sidewalk. When you run out of creatures to count remember how many starfish and mosaic fish you saw along the way (don’t count the octopus!). Now remember that count and walk back to the fountain.

Now face towards the coordinates N27 19.911 W82 32.339 and once again start walking the sidewalk, admire, and count, the starfish and the mosaic fish along the way. What? You thought I’d make this cache easy? Hmmm, must not know the nature of IMPG, as these caches are a learning adventure and not just another notch on your GPS. Be sure to count all the creatures in the sidewalks as the direction coordinates are just for reference.

Once you have a full count on all the starfish and all the mosaic fish, plug those numbers in the following formula to find the coords to the final cache location.

N27 19.(796 + STARFISH) W82 32.(282 + FISH) (don’t forget to NOT count the octopus)

At this spot you will find a micro slim-bob cache holding a log book. Be on your best stealth behavior if any muggles are about. It appears that the muggle traffic is almost nil
after work hours.

You can check your answers for this puzzle on Geochecker.com.

Enjoy and appreciate,

IMPG
