This cache is hidden in a small Lock & Lock storage container in Hasson Heights Park. It is located between two stairways, both take you to or away from the swimming pool.
The land at the top of the stairways was donated to Oil City by William Hasson. By the end of the summer of 1898, fairgrounds and a race track were completed. The race track was said to have been the best oblong half-mile track in the country. The fairs were well attended until 1909 when the fourth (and final) one was held. Soon after, the mortgage was foreclosed and the grounds were sold for $5,000 plus interest and carrying charges. The last race was held in 1908 or 1909.
This cache is hidden with permission of the City of Oil City Public Works Department.
