Cache is hidden in the rocks behind the water cistern, the last standing building of the long forgotten town of Geneva
This water cistern is the last standing building in a farming community once know as Geneva. Geneva is located south of the Grandview Cemetery. about ten years ago if you looked across the street you would have seen one remaining wall and a fireplace of a house. Also if you look across the street you will see a field. In the middle of the field you will see a tree that is very out of place, after investigating I discovered the remains of a collapsed house under the tree. Kind of amazing to think that the residents who planted this tree left the area almost one hundred years ago, but the tree still provides shade for the remains of the house. After finding the cache wander around the area, I believe after searchng this area many times over the years I have found six possible home sites, though the water cistern is the only standing one. We placed the cache here during the Geneva 3 fire that burned about 480 acres during three days. Forty fire fighters with ten water tankers fought the flames during 100 degree weather. To get to where the fire was drive through the gate across the road. This road is only open during the summer months. If you travel up this road check out Camp Krummholz cache, the view is worth the trip. Very little is know about Geneva, so please show the area respect and leave anything you may find where it is. Nature, has already reclaimed much of Geneva i hope by posting this cache we can help bring the past alive, not erase it quicker. I would greatly appreciate any information about Geneva and Grandview. Hope you enjoy the cache.
