Geocache Description:

This cache is located at the Upper Joffre Lake. This is not a walk in the park, it is a fairly difficult hike up 5.5 kms, 800 elevation gain, including traversing a rock slide.
This is a hike to the Upper lake, so as the Joffre's Jewels cache says: "Please keep in mind it is a rough 5.5km hike, part of which is a boulder field traverse. It is not a walk in the park, sturdy footwear and the "10 Essentials of Hiking" are an absolute MUST."

This is a tupperware type container, painted flat black, with log book, pencel. Geocaching note, a few trade items.
It is located under a tree, approx 10 metres from the shore of the Upper Lake (far end). See photo of trees, it's under the middle tree.

The hike up takes approx 2 hrs, but is well worth the effort. The views are stupendous, there is camping, swimming, an outhouse, but NO drinking water (BYO). (sse photo of Upper Joffre Lake and Matier Glacier. The campground and cache are located at the far end of the lake, right side, near that grove you see, bottom right of photo).

The drive is good, approx 1 hr north of Whistler. Make sure you car is in good shape, the climb up from Lillooet Lake is 1100 m, over a distance of 13 kms. You wouldn't want your rad to overheat.
