INdiana Spirit Quest #507: Happy Hill Traditional Cache

The Indiana Spirit Quest series of geocaches will take you to a number of historic cemeteries built by Hoosier Pioneers. In just over two years, the quest has grown to over five hundred twenty caches hidden in Indiana, Ohio and Michigan , and the hiders have grown to thirty cacher teams, most of which of which are comprised of Dogs and their Humans. Over 1,000 cacher teams have logged over 19,500 finds. .

Welcome to Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Richland Township, Steuben County.

I know you can’t see the Shadow, but if you listen carefully, you can hear him:

This is an older, midsize cemetery that lies behind the namesake church. There is no separate sign for the grounds. A single entrance drive is near the south side. Other parking would be in the lot at the church itself.

It's an active cemetery, with several of our veterans here, from the Civil War & WWII. The flowers were very much in bloom, making it a beautiful & peaceful place to visit. The rolling ground within added a special uniqueness to the area.

It's well maintained with most of the markers in good condition and straightened. I noticed that there are quite a few of the Porter family here.

Duty at Murfreesboro till June. Middle Tennessee (or Tullahoma) Campaign June 23-July 7. Occupation of Middle Tennessee till August 16. Passage of the Cumberland Mountains and Tennessee River and Chickamauga (Ga.) Campaign August 16-September 22. Battle of Chickamauga September 19-20. Mission Ridge Septembcr 22. Before Chattanooga September 22-26. Siege of Chattanooga September 26-November 23. Assigned to Provost duty at Chattanooga November 8. Chattanooga-Ringgold Campaign November 23-27. Mission Ridge November 25. On Provost duty at Chattanooga, Tenn., till September, 1864. At Tullahoma September 28 to October 2. Return to Chattanooga, Tenn., October 15, and Provost duty there till September, 1865.

Mustered out September 14, 1865.
