Welcome to the 15th in our Fallin' For Virginia series of
caches. As always, we are attempting to bring you to some of
Southwest Virginia's most beautiful but little known
Whitetop Laurel Creek is joined by the Straight Branch and then
roars (in high water) down the mountain towards Damascus, Virginia.
About 4 miles from Damascus the creek tumbles over serveral rock
shelves and drops some twenty feet. This is the beautiful Whitetop
Laurel Falls. It is not too steep so you may walk to the base of
the falls. Not too steep but sometimes slick so be careful. This
part is not reccomended for small children. The little ones can go
for the cache without worry but not down to the falls.
As usual, satellite readings were bothersome because of the
terrain so you may need to use the hint. If you have good reception
with accuracy, please post your coordinates for the cache site. The
cache container is a camo-taped 3X6X9 Rubbermaid box. Room for
medium tradeables and TBs.
Falls, Damascus, VA from Randy Gardner
PLEASE put everything back as you found it. We made it not too
hard to find so don't make it too easy to be muggled. Thanks.
By the way, you are going on the Creeper Trail. There are more
caches to be found.
NOTE: We are planning a special award for completing the
entire series. Nothing drastic but something for your efforts and
to remember what you accomplished. We will watch the logs but let
us know when you have done it!
