Kätkö on piilotettu Outokumpuun vanhan Keretin
kaivoksen läheisyyteen.
Kätkön läheisyydessä maamerkkinä toimii Keretin kaivoksen
nostotorni, joka on valmistunut 1954.
Nostotornin alla sijaitsee keskuskuilu ja tornin läheisyydessä on
yhä osa rikastamon rakennuksista.
Keretin kaivos oli Outokumpu Oy:lle ja Outokummun kaupungille
todellä tärkeä kaivos varsinkin
1960-luvulla.
Kaupungin lähistöltä löytyy vielä muutama muukin kaivos, Vanha
Kaivos kaupungin keskustassa,
mutta Mökkivaaran kaivoksen rakennukset on jo purettu. Suomen
suurin kaivos Vuonos löytyy myös
Outokummun lähistöltä. Vuonoksessa ei muista kaupungin kaivoksista
poiketen ole nostotornia, vaan
vinotunneli. Kaivostoiminta päättyi Outokummussa 1990-luvun
alkupuolella.
Kätkö on lumen peitossa talvella.

The Cache is hidden near to the Keretti Mine in Outokumpu.
Near the cache you can see the Keretti Mine head frame which was
built in 1954. Near the tower
are still some buildings from concentrating plants. The mine of
Keretti was really important for
Outokumpu Oy and city of Outokumpu especially at the 1960s.
In the area of Outokumpu city you can find other mines too. An Old
Mine near center of Outokumpu
city but the mine of Mökkivaara's buildings are already pulled
down. The biggest mine in Finland,
Vuonos, doesn't have a visible landmark because it didn't have the
mine head frame at all (there
was a diagonial tunnel in Vuonos). The mining industry came to the
end in Outokumpu at the
beginning of 1990s.
The cache is under snow at winter time.
