Kidding Around on the Panhandle
Finally, a cache designed just for the kids (and the young
at heart!) along the Panhandle Trail! This .50 caliber ammo
can is placed just off the Panhandle
Trail near the Rennerdale access point. This area is now open
to visitors due to the new bridge that was opened on April 28,
2006. For more information, visit:
http://www.panhandletrail.org/news.htm.
You
must access the trail system by crossing the new
bridge. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO ACCESS THIS CACHE FROM ANY
OTHER POINT! While the cache may appear closer to
another point along the trail, you'll make it a 5* terrain!
After crossing the bridge, you'll find a small trail to your
left. This is the narrowest section of your journey and it
gradually goes uphill. Once at the top of the hill, you'll
see a very nice wide trail. The cache is located about 70
feet off of this trail, but very little bushwacking is necessary as
the growth is light (We placed the cache in shorts and tennis
shoes).
The cache is
hidden in an obvious location that can be found by even the
youngest cachers in your group. You'll find a very full ammo
can filled with toys. Please only leave trades for
kids!
The FTF prize
is appropriate for the cache theme and is with the
logbook.
Good luck, happy caching, and
enjoy this brand new area!
