Geocache Description:

Photobucket There is no need to go into the museum. It is hidden just off the towpath.

This is the site of the original Wigan Pier. You can see the replica coal tippler on the opposite bank to the cache. There are a number of items relating to the canal around the cache site that are quite interesting. There is a charge to go into the museum but have a look when you go as sometimes they have a free entrance days. Today it was free boat trips. There is free parking just off Swan Meddow Rd, from there you will have to cross the one way system onto The Wigan Pier site. The traffic can be very busy so please use the crossing. (Only a few minutes walk) Be aware that the car park close to the cache area is for disabled parking only.
