      CARP              PERCH             CHUB              ROACH            TROUT

Rachel Rudd swam North with a worried look on her face and a terrible feeling in her gills. It was the letter, the one delivered this morning by fin. The invite for dinner from Percy Pike. Last time Percy had invited anyone for dinner they had never returned – and Martin Minnow had been one of her best friends. Typically at this time of day she would go and see her confidant Rodney Roach but he had been sickly recently. Even with the attentions of Dr Tench, he didn’t seem to be getting any better. She thought about asking Peter Perch but she knew he could be prickly about these matters. Passing Thomas Trout who was chasing flies again, it reminded her of the fishing line incident with Bertie Bream. Around she went three times passing Charlie Chub who always seemed to be busy, but she was never sure with exactly what. ‘Great Pectorals though’ she quietly thought to herself. West towards somebody who she knew would be able to help. Finally she spied him – Colin Carp. Colin was the only fish not to be scared of Percy Pike, and what a wise and knowledgeable fish. He would know what to do. Rachel told him of her worries and he quickly concluded she must depart and soon. He mentioned a place, somewhere that Rachel could leave the pond and Percy couldn’t follow her. Somewhere she would be safe. Sad as she was, even in her dorsals she knew he was right. As the other fish assembled to say farewell she took one last look behind her, flicked her tail and knew exactly where to go…..
