NS - Brudgomsegene

Denne cache er lagt i forbindelse med eventen "Sol over Als".

Billede af BrudgomsegeI 1700-tallet var skovene i dårlig stand. Det skyldtes dels en for kraftig hugst, dels at kreaturer græssede i skovene og dermed forhindrede unge træer i at vokse op. I hertugdømmerne Slesvig og Holsten blev det derfor i 1737 bestemt, at ingen bondekarl kunne gifte sig, før han havde plantet 10 ege- eller 15 bøgetræer. Herefter skulle træerne vokse i 3 år - "sætte løv 3 gange" - før giftermål kunne indgås. Brudgomsegenes egetræer stammer fra denne tid og er således en rest af en af de ældste, plantede skove i Danmark.

English:
In the 18. century peasants had to plant 10 oak or 15 beech trees, that had to grow for 3 years, before they where allowed to get married. These old oaks are from that period of time.
