One Great Year - One Big Thank You Multi-Cache

This cache has been archived.

QSeekers: OK - Stage one is NOT missing (and probably never will be).
As you all have stated "the coords bring me to just a telephone pole" - well on that telephone pole are 2 roofing nails with the N/W coords engraved on them.
Problem is - the telephone pole is oozing the sealant and it is tough / impossible to read the N coords.
So we are archiving the cache - Making some room for new Caches!
Thanks to all who have enjoyed the hunt.

I archive this one sadness - it marked our first year of geocaching and the meeting of many of the special people who welcomed us and made many years for my family and i VERY special. Thank you again to all!
Dan

Geocache Description:

On August 14 we will celebrate one year since our very first geocache find. And we’d like to take this opportunity to say thanks to all of you for the great time. Because without you hiding them, we can't find them!

It’s hard to believe that one year ago we walked into the woods behind the Red Mill in Jericho and found our first cache. It was kind of funny, I didn’t bother to read the directions for the GPSr, and we just wandered aimlessly trying to get the coords on the display to match the ones on the cache page. What a bunch of dummies! Luckily QMom was having none of that electronics stuff and found the cache using her apparent ‘geosense’. Man, we were hooked. We’d like to tell you how many caches we found this year, but instead we’d really like to thank all of you for MAKING the caches and making us feel welcome.
We learned that all caches are not containers and can be quite tricky from VT_EMT’s Williston Bike Path. He is also the one that helped teach Q-Girl about perseverance when we did Electronics 101. We figured out early that Crowbait likes to hike! Man, it’s a long way around Colchester Pond (3 different times!). DeweyDoubleD fooled us many a time with his great home-made hides. (But we still don’t know what B.A.M. stands for!) And nobody makes us laugh like DJ and CAL; the Big Green One, what a riot. And ask Q-Girl what happens if you hold onto “Take Me to the River” a little too tightly. The team that put together Misdirection still holds a very memorable week in the QSeeker history. That was just such a great experience for us. We got to meet a lot of you doing that cache. It was that cache that introduced us to night caching. I’m pretty sure none of the QSeekers will forget Flashco’s “Bring a Change of Underwear” that we did on New Year’s Eve in 10 degree weather, we had a blast! We still get hungry thinking about Froggie’s Snack Park in Milton. And it was Tharagleb who inspired Q-Son to become the official QSeeker coin collector. We just completed "Dewey’s Gas Guzzling Big Adventure", which many of you had a hand in. The final stage allowed us to have one very special birthday party.
If you think doing a couple of caches here and there is fun, you should try the ‘Cache Your Brains Out’ weekend getaway! Caching with the Yoopers, Scubatime, and DJ and CAL on unfamiliar turf is always a great time.

And to ALL the cachers out there, we just want to say thanks! And hope we run into you soon searching for that ever elusive Tupperware or Ammo can in the woods!

About the cache: It is a three-stage multi. The final is a .50 cal ammo can, the other two stages aren't. The terrain is pleasant going along a nice long trail. There is one spot where a ladder/rope is used. In dry times, no problems. In somewhat wet times, a little wading might be needed. In case of very high water, there is a contingency plan in the second stage explaining how to get to the final. That just about covers it! Have a great time!
