Geocache Description:

Located in the Victoria Lake Road area about 200ft from a road. The hike is short and easy, the hard part is going to be driving your way to the cache.

The name "Fire Bird Ridge" came to us as we were placing the cache. We spotted a bird with a yellow body and a bright red head, it looked just like a flying little flame. Maybe you will see it too!

We wanted the real challenge to be finding the area of the cache, so we won't be giving you any detailed directions. In fact there are so many roads in this area that it would be almost impossible to give all the turns necessary to find this site. So you are challenged with picking the correct fork in the road, there will be many choices! The only direction we will give is head south on Sheridan Lake road from Rapid City for about 5-10 minutes and take a right on Victoria Lake Road (it is marked with a green street sign). The rest is up to you.

Please be careful while driving. We suggest that when you come to a fork in the road, stop your vehicle, take a reading and decide which way you should travel. We all know it is not safe to drive and GPS, especially on mountain roads.

When you get close to the cache you will see the road is wide enough to pull off to the side. There is a pretty good view from this place as well. After you find the cache and are ready to head home, just drive further down the road and you will find an easy turn around spot.

Have Fun and be safe!
