The above coordinates are for the car park at Cosmeston Lakes and Country Park.
The park offers many facilities: Visotor Centre with cafe & toilets, lakes with wildlife including swans, ducks and gulls to feed, childrens’ playground, permanent orienteering course, and many places to walk – look out for the interesting sculptures. It is also home to the Medieval Village – details of tours and special events can be found on the Vale of Glamorgan website.
In the immediate vicinity of the visitor centre you will need to find;
The years the trucks were in use = ABCD – ABEF
The number of sleepers = G
The year on the gate of the Nature Garden = HIJK (This is now missing = 2004)
The cache may be found at N51 24.(F-D) E (F-D) W3 11.(G-A) (H+A) (C+E+H)
Permission to locate a cache in the country park was not forthcoming, so you will be leaving the park via a kissing gate at N51 24.755 W03 11.711. Please approach the cache from this direction and NOT through the hedge!
Expect a walk of 1.5 miles over fields - more if you take the opportunity to explore the park. Cows, or the evidence of same, may be encountered.
The cache is a camoed turtle box. Please bring your own pen. Room for small TBs etc.
Looking NE from the gate you will see a stile and a gate. Use either for a different return journey. We’ll say no more – just leave you to explore!
Please could you ensure the cache is hidden from view when you replace it.
