An informal picnic style meet and greet for the local Aggieland
Geocachers to get together and get to know each other.
DATE: Sunday,
September 24, 2006
WHEN: 5PM till ???
Food: Picnic style (bring your own)
What to Bring:
Lawn Chairs, food, caching scrapbooks and
pictures, coins and TBs, good caching stories, a smile and
some laughter, and some activities to pacify the kiddos (if
applicable) like frisbees, soccer balls, and such.
Howdy Aggieland Cachers,
I use the term Aggieland cachers loosely since I know many of you
are not Aggies and merely live in the Brazos Valley, but hopefully
you'll understand since my caching name gives away my bias.
I have been caching for nearly two years now and don't have a clue
who any of you are. Since there hasn't been any event caches in
this area for nearly three years, it seems high time for us to
gather socially and get to know each other. Not knowing what time
is best for everyone I decided to throw a dart at the calendar for
a date. Since that date was no good for me, we decided to choose a
Sunday afternoon following an Aggie home football game. Hopefully
many cachers will be in town and the weekend warriors will be on
their way out of town. We will be bringing the entire family (2
adults + 2 girls, 8 & 9 years old) so feel free to bring yours
too.
Currently I have not reserved the pavilion at the Oaks park. This
pavilion is often available and not reserved, but I figured if it
was taken we could just sit in lawn chairs under the nice shady
trees. I have some tables I could bring and set up for everyone to
eat at. However, if we have enough positive response and a few
funds can be collected, we can certainly re-consider a
reservation.
Not knowing what kind of response we would have, I figures a
picnic style meet and greet would be the best type of event (thanks
Retired for your opinion too). If response is good maybe we can
plan other type events in the future.
