Geocache Description:

Located in the beautiful desert of Southwest Idaho. Take the newly paved Sinker road to celebration park. You can park at the old guffey bridge to start this adventure.

Located in a rock outcropping on the side of Guffey butte is located this regular cache in a plastic container. My oldest daughter insisted on putting this cache up here on the side of the hill. This meant having to climb a different hill from the other caches, but the view up here is beautiful. The desert is majestic from here. Probably even better from the top, but I was to tired to climb all the way up there.

Take a moment to reflect on the flow of history that has gone past this butte. Native Americans lived on this land. The pioneers on the southern branch of the Oregon trail walked past this butte. At one time the railroad crossed the bridge over the Snake river below and wound it’s way around and past this butte towards silver city. Here you can almost see the land as it once was, untouched and unspoiled. Beautiful!

In the summer this is a good cache to visit first thing in the morning when the sun is just rising and it is still cool out. You might bring some water with you and keep an eye out for snakes.

If you come to this cache, take a look at the three other caches on the butte, Desert Canyon, Desert Cliffs and Guffey Butte.
