Cache located in Winterbourne, which was originally known as Cox’s Creek, East Woolwich and Lower Woolwich P.O., the name of this village officially changed to Winterbourne when its post office received that name in 1859
It was named after the English home of the landowner, William Lanphier, on whose land the village developed; several other early settlers in the district were from Scotland. In 1854, Lanphier dammed Cox’s Creek, where he established a saw mill and a grist mill and, the following year, had his property surveyed into building lots.
The village grew around the mills, with a post office, general store, hotel and other amenities. Presbyterian and Methodist churches were established by the first settlers. Winterbourne is located on present-day Katherine Street North in Woolwich Township on the east side of the Grand River. Cache is on a trail near Cox Creek.
This cache is within 5 metres of a Deer Hunter's hiding station up in the tree along the trail. See photos.
Be Careful during hunting season. Cache is a small container with log book & pen. There is room for small trading items
