Florence really needed a full size ammo can as a place for travel bugs to stay the night. So, originally I opened up the River House TB Motel in Old Town Florence on Bay Street, near the real River House Motel.
I had to move the cache twice since it's original placement on August 12, 2006. The first move was necessary because the empty lot it was hidden in was cleared to make way for a new 2-story condo building. Then it was removed from it's second location by the Florence City Police after it was reported and the Bomb Squad was going to be called it! I'm glad they turned the K-9 team on it instead of the bomb squad (at least I got my ammo can back intact with all contents in great shape). But with the warning of not to place it within the city limits, it was time to move it again. So, I moved the cache to a new, safer, location near the entrance to the South Jetty. It is not necessary to enter the park and pay the $5.00 day use fee in oder to hunt for this cache. Just park in the 10-minute parking space near by.
