This cache is placed here in honor of Frank Tracy Griswold. Born in 1937 and educated at Harvard and the General Theological Seminary in New York City, he served 3 parishes in greater Philadelphia before being elected the Episcopal Bishop of Chicago in 1985. In 1997 he was elected Presiding Bishop (Primate) of the Episcopal Church, a member church in the world-wide Anglican Communion. During his tenure, Bishop Griswold lead the church gracefully through contentious waters, made particularly challenging by the consecration of the first openly gay man in a partnered relationship as Bishop of New Hampshire in 2003. Many welcomed this, others deplored it. Deeply spiritual, Bishop Griswold modeled non-anxious leadership in a powerful way. He retired in November 2006.
This cache is in an area near where I've spent numerous Thursday mornings at the spectacular Stumpy Lake golf course. Park at N36 46.514 W076 09.638, but be aware that the gates to this area are locked at sunset. There is a loop trail leading to the area of the cache. The trail is maintained by the Citizens for Stumpy Lake, and they have plans for extending it with another loop in the future. The cache is a tupperware container with a few items for trade.
