Ryan Park Ski Area

This cache is located in an area where the Ryan Park Ski Area once existed. When I was a kid (in the 50's and 60's) this was the local ski area (60 miles from home). I never skied here but came here with family and friends occasionally. It had a tow-rope type lift and was reasonably busy considering there was no population base close by. There was a small lodge here where a person could warm up, buy your lift ticket, get a snack and just relax. Today it is very much overgrown yet you can still see where the hill was cleared for the ski run. You will find yourself in the beautiful Medicine Bow National Forest and the Snowy Range Mountains. There are several caches along this highway and I highly recommend you make the trip over this mountain range, either from Saratoga to Laramie or from Laramie to Saratoga. The road is good and the scenery spectacular. It is closed during the winter to through traffic and even though this area is kept open, it will probably be very difficult to find the cache under the snow. There are many trails and loops and many forms of wildlife can be viewed. You will turn off the paved road at N41-20.091, W106-31.241 and drive down the 2-track a short distance. When you come to a fork in the trail, turn right and head south toward the hill. A short distance further, you will get to the point where the grade becomes very steep, you are very close to the cache. Follow your GPS from there. Enjoy!
Please replace the cache exactly as you found it so it is equally as challenging for the next cacher as it was for you! Good hunting!
