Geocache Description:

You can't miss this one, being only a few steps from where you park. Hunting is allowed in these woods so be aware in the fall during early morning and late afternoon hours.

This will be the first of the original Osage series of caches placed by Killerb on the Osage Farm in Mt Morris. You will notice as you near the cache area, the stone markers placed on the boundaries of this farm, and will be seen as you continue to search out the six caches. These formations were placed here by David Swanson and his son Jeff, many years ago. The idea came to mind as David was flying into England to visit friends. Till then, each year after plowing up the fields for planting, these rocks were picked up and thrown into the hedge rows. Now they are viewed by passers-by, such as I have been for the last few years, wondering about the story behind them. David and Jeff refer to them as their very own Stonehenge.
The Swanson family has been generous enough to open their farm and woodlands for our caching enjoyment. As you work through these caches you will find that there are many groomed trails and also many foot or deer trails leading to most cache sites. All hides are hiking caches, with the exception of one that is a driving cache. All the caches are now stand alone caches, and several of them contain a number you need to get the Osage, Ode to Killerb bonus cache. Find the new ones and revisit an old favorite or two.

You may want to bring some charcoal, hots and hamburgers along, this is a great place for a picnic or just to chill out. If the family is not into caching, bring them along anyway just to enjoy the park like setting. If you are fortunate enough to run into any of the Swanson family, make it known that you are a geocacher and how much you appreciate their willingness to share this beautiful area.

Have fun and be sure to be respectful of this beautiful place. If you happen to see any trash, and you may not, remember to cache in and trash out. Please do not block any farm lanes with your car.
