Geocache Description:

You can park on pavement within 30 feet of the cache. Easy and short walk. There are some trade goods in cache.

The cache is located On Public Property on the hill just behind the “Old Sprague Catholic Academy”. The Academy was a place for the farmers to send their girls (girls only) to live and get up to a 12th grade education. All that is left now is the cafeteria which is the small building on the corner (which has been turned into a private home), and the dormitory where the girls would stay during the school year. The dormitory is the two story brick structure and was built in 1954 but has now been turned into a private home. The actual School was a wood structure that was located between the two and connected them. The Old School House was built in the late 1800’s but was destroyed by fire many years ago.

Sprague was actually the Hub of the area and the place that everyone came to shop before the big fire. They came by wagon, horse back and train. After the fire the Railroad moved the repair yards to Hillyard (Spokane) and with most of the shops moving to follow them Sprague was never able to fully recovered and was destined to be just another small town in eastern Washington.
