Monday, October 16, 2006 Update
Thank you to everyone who has posted a “Will Attend” log so far.
My rough count today is 59 teams representing 175ish people. Please
continue to post your “will attend” so we have enough handouts for
each team.
The Tapps & I marked coordinates last Friday for 21
temporary caches between several different parks. We used his
Magellan Color and my Garmin 76csx so we agreed on coordinates
between them on each hide.
With this size crowd, we will be ready to start checking and
download coordinates at 6:30 PM. Please realize due to the nature
of the hides, it is possible the Konkel Park caches may not be
ready until after 7 PM. We will have the hides in the other parks
ready.
Each family will be required to complete a registration form to
participate, I will post a link later this week so you can download
it. We will also have forms available as you check in.
We will only be downloading the coordinates for the temporary
hides and parking areas. If you have not searched for the caches in
this area, you will want to load your GPS prior to coming.
I have cables for the following GPS units: Magellan Gold &
Color, Garmin Extrex series, Garmin Rhino series and the Garmin USB
cable (since I have the 76csx). I do not have the Magellan
Explorist cable or the Garmin 9pin serial cable so if your GPS uses
either of these please bring them. If you use another type of GPS,
please email me so I know what set up we need for you.
Yes, you may bring travel bugs to swap. Yes, you can bring your
geocoin collections to share. We will have picnic tables available
by the campfire for this purpose. Please plan to spend some time at
the campfire. We will have supplies for S’mores.
Yes, you may log the temporary caches you find on the event
page. We allow multiple “attended” logs, just name the cache with
the post.
Tuesday, October 17 UPDATE
Per the attribute above, Dogs are not permitted in the parks
being used for this event. Please make other arrangements for your
pets.
Thursday, October 19 UPDATE
To help speed up the sign in process, we have included a
linky to the Registration Form in Word format. We will have copies
at check in. Click Here to download
the form
Also, jvechinski will bring his "odd" cables such as Garmin
Foretrex, older Magellan serial, and Garmin round serial to assist
with the download process.
Did you want to bring something? The only thing we still
need are the fixings for S'mores. If you would like to bring graham
crackers, marshmellows or Hershey's, just post a note so I have an
idea of what might be coming. Thanks
