Aye Matey, Shiver Me Timbers...Sunday, October 1st is the day
to talk like a pirate and do some serious trading of plunder
(geocoins). ARRRRR, set your sails for Point Defiance on
Commencement Bay and make land at Owen Beach. Set anchor and come
ashore for a rollicking good time. Ahoy, you ScallyWags, all hands
on deck!
AVAST all you Swashbucklers, Chumbuckets, Bilge Rats and Wenches,
join the Scurvey Dogs and Shanghai Mates at Point Defiance for
trading of tall tales of Geoadventures on the low seas. Sunday,
October 1st, we will be there from 10 till 3 with burgers, dogs,
grog and a new coin, the legendary 2bugs Doubloon ($7 each -
one per cacher). So put on your pirate gear and practice saying
"ARRRR"
If you can, bring a side dish, a dessert or something to drink
(that would be grog, Scalliwag!).
Plan to spend the day at Point Defiance. There are lots of things
to do and see...the Zoo, the Japanese Gardens and Pagoda, the Rose
Garden, Rhododendrum Garden, Camp 6 Logging exhibit, Fort Nisqually
and miles of paths through old growth forests, not to mention a
dozen caches inside the park and many more in the surrounding area.
You can even rent a kayak and go paddling in Commencement Bay!Now
there's some real pirate action for you, maybe you can hijack a
passing freighter (ram her with your plastic rent-a-dinghy)!
