ORIGINAL LISTING
A traditional straight forward 30 cal. ammo box cache located in a very cool spot with a most amazing view of Lake Martin. You will be thrilled as you arrive at the Fire Tower coordinates. The area appears to have been a public park at some point, and there are picnic tables, an old broken BBQ pit, and a walking trail that will take you to nearby Sandy Creek Bluff, or even down to beautiful Lake Martin. We did find one no tresspassing sign at the end of one of the roads that lead to the site, but there are several ways to approach the area. This cache can be done by car, boat, 4 wheeler, or foot. The 4 star terrain rating is the worse case scenario, if you park at the bottom of the mountain, on the land side, and walk straight up, but there are logging roads, and service roads that make it possible to drive to the area, if you have the right vehicle (we were in a jeep, and someone else came up in a SUV while we were there). We are starting this one off with a few trinkets, a log book, and a couple of my copy-coin trackables. So enjoy your visit!!!
This area has been completely redone so that there is a parking lot and trail system that will lead you to the cache area. Please only do the cache this way. They have done a wonderful job refurbishing the lookout tower so you are really in for a treat if you have always wanted to climb on of the, but never got the chance!;
